To make a Lasting Power of Attorney, it has to be registered with the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). This is the body responsible for registering and monitoring Lasting Powers of Attorney. If an LPA is not registered, it cannot be used by an attorney.
If you are looking to put in place a Lasting Power of Attorney, note that the registration fee is changing. From November 17th, the registration fee is increasing from £82 per LPA to £92. A fee exemption is still available for those in receipt of certain means tested benefits. A 50% fee reduction is also still available for those with an income under £12,000 per year.
